We would like to enter one more comment into the scoping process for the Blue Valley Ranch Land Exchange; we recognize that the comment period is officially closed and you have no obligation to consider this comment, but we hope that you will exercise your discretion to do so.
It is our understanding that BLM Parcel J was conveyed to the BLM in a previous land exchange. We know that the agency does not take these exchanges lightly. As such, it would make sense that when the agency accepts responsibility for land through a land exchange, such lands enhance the agency's mission and management as clarified through long and short range planning processes. The draft EIS for the Blue Valley Ranch Land Exchange should both articulate the reasons the agency accepted Parcel J in the previous exchange and demonstrate how conveying out of the public trust helps to enhance and further the BLM's planning goals and management.
