Overview: Drafted by Representative Jeff Hurd of Colorado’s 3rd District, the Greater Access for Multiple-Use Experiences (GAME) Act proposes exchanging 2,158 acres of public land under the supervision of the Bureau of Land Management for 2,103 acres of private lands possessed by Out of Bounds Ranch. The bill seeks to consolidate public lands 13 miles northwest of Rifle, Colorado, adjacent to Road 249 (Cow Creek Gulch). In exchange, BLM land located approximately 9 miles east of Glenwood Springs, Colorado will be transferred to private control.
Status and Timeline:
The Greater Access for Multiple-Use Experiences (GAME) Act has yet to be introduced into Congress by Rep. Hurd, but it is slated to be introduced this year.
Garfield County Board of Commissioners held public comments and approved a resolution supporting the GAME Act on July 21st, 2026.
