VALLE SECO PROPOSED LAND EXCHANGE

PAGOSA RANGER DISTRICT, SAN JUAN NATIONAL FOREST (SNJF)

SCOPING COMMENTS DUE DEC. 13, 2019

The SJNF is soliciting input to inform their environmental analysis of this proposed exchange that will document potential impacts to the physical, human, and biological environment.

Private Proponents: Bootjack Ranch LLC, David C. Lindner Trust, David C. Lindner Dynasty Trust, Robert D. Lindner Family Trust; David K. Skidmore, Cynthia A. Sites, and Double Springs Partnership Ltd.

Facilitator: Western Lands Group

The Proposal:
To be conveyed to the Forest Service (from Private to Public Ownership) - 900 acres including:
Valle Seco Parcel - 880 acres – this is currently valuable wildlife habitat and is a private inholding surrounded by Forest Service land
Middle Fork Parcel - 20 acres – this is in Suitable Wild and Scenic Corridor

To be conveyed from the Forest Service (Public Ownership) to Proponents (Private Ownership) - 11 parcels totaling 472 acres of land including:
Two parcels, Parcel 1 - 175.48 acres and Parcel 2 - 0.66 acre, within Designated Roadless Areas (loss of high-quality natural lands that would require a boundary modification process)
26 acres within Suitable Wild and Scenic River Corridors (more wild and scenic land proposed to be conveyed than received)
